Dr. Jennifer Alford
Dr. Alford received her master’s degree and doctorate in clinical psychology, with a neuropsychology specialty and assessment proficiency certificate, at Pacific Graduate School of Psychology in Palo Alto, CA. She completed an APA-Accredited pre-doctoral internship at the University of Utah’s Neuropsychiatric Institute and a two year post-doctoral fellowship in pediatric neuropsychology at Seattle Children’s Hospital in Seattle, WA. Dr. Alford also provided regular developmental screenings for the Washington State Newborn Screening Program and the Medical Genetics program at the University of Washington’s Center on Human Development and Disability. She developed two behavioral health programs for military families, multiple behavioral health websites (afterdeployment.org; militarykidsconnect.org) and award winning mobile applications for teaching self-care skills (Breathe2Relax, MoodTracker).
Dr. Alford is the Director of Pediatric Neuropsychology, the Director of Post-doctoral Training in Pediatric Neuropsychology, and the clinical lead of the youth sports concussion program at a large Medical Center in the Sacramento Valley. She conducts comprehensive neuropsychological evaluations for neurodevelopmental and medical disorders, working within a multidisciplinary team within Pediatric Neurology and a variety of other medical specialties.
Dr. Alford’s specialty areas include a wide variety of medical, neurodevelopmental, learning and behavioral disorders. A sample of her specialties include, but are not limited to: early developmental concerns (birth-to-three); global developmental delay; intrauterine exposure to toxic substances; pediatric brain and spinal cord tumors; leukemia; genetic and metabolic disorders; congenital cardiac disorders; concussion and traumatic brain injury; Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder; Autism Spectrum Disorder; and toxic encephalopathy. Dr. Alford believes that the early identification of a child’s strengths and challenges, and the leveraging of supportive resources that capitalizes on those strengths, can assist in promoting their optimal level of functioning.
Dr. Alford has been a practicing neuropsychologist for 20 years and has practiced in a variety of hospital and clinical settings.
